
Dr. Boyer joined Valley Sports Physicians in August 2010. He is a 1998 graduate of the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing a residency in Emergency Medicine, he practiced Emergency and Urgent Care medicine for 7 years in Missouri. During that time he served as the team physician for 2 local high schools and for Missouri Southern State University. He has also been a ringside
physician for numerous amateur and professional boxing (USA Boxing and
Showtime
Boxing) and mixed martial arts events.
In July 2009 Dr. Boyer left Missouri and emergency medicine and started a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at Virginia Tech, graduating in June 2010. During his fellowship he provided coverage
for nineteen different Division I sports.
He also served as team physician for the ACC wrestling championships, the
ACC softball championships, and the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field
Championships. Dr. Boyer
also provided volunteer medical coverage for the Virginia Commonwealth
Games
and the Marine Corps Marathon.
Dr. Boyer is board certified in Emergency Medicine and board eligible in Sports Medicine. He is a member
of the American Osteopathic Association, the American
Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine, and the American College of Osteopathic
Emergency Physicians.
A native of the Midwest, Dr. Boyer enjoys outdoor activities including fishing and hiking
with his wife and three children.
They are all looking forward to experiencing New England as they
transition to Connecticut.
